Brighton & Hove Albion have issued official safety advice for fans travelling to their UEFA Conference League match against Getafe in Madrid. The club's Supporter Services posted a detailed statement outlining logistics for the trip to the Estadio Coliseum this week.
Brighton & Hove Albion Supporter Services said, "Police have advised that Brighton fans arrive to the fan meeting point by 17:00 for your own safety." The designated area is the Avenida María Zambrano, which features bars and restaurants. From there, supporters will be escorted by police to the ground. The club confirmed the walk takes about 20 minutes, with Spanish police recommending a slightly longer route turning left at the roundabout near the meeting point.
This marks Brighton's third continental away journey this season, following goalless draws at Tromso in Norway and FK Jablonec in the Czech Republic. The team arrives in Spain sitting third in the Premier League with 19 points from nine games, having recorded six wins, one draw and two defeats. That victory followed a dramatic 2-2 draw with the same opponents three days earlier, where Malick Yalcouyé and Georginio Rutter were on the scoresheet. Their top scorer this season is C. Kostoulas with three goals in nine appearances.
They face Brentford at home next in the league on Sunday 8 November, a side currently sixth in the table. The Conference League clash represents a chance for Brighton to secure a first away victory in the competition against a Getafe side placed 12th in La Liga. After the European fixture, attention turns to the domestic fixtures, with the Brentford match scheduled for November 8.
