Brighton & Hove Albion winger Zadok Yohanna has returned to training ahead of Saturday's Premier League trip to Manchester City. Manager Fabian Hürzeler confirmed the 19-year-old Nigerian's availability for selection during his pre-match press conference on Thursday. His return bolsters a squad that sits third in the Premier League with 16 points from five wins, one draw and two defeats.
Yohanna has been absent for 11 consecutive matches and has not featured in the Premier League since the season opener. His last appearance came in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers against Norwegian side Tromsø. The club-record €28 million signing from AIK is yet to make a competitive debut for Brighton since his deadline-day arrival.
Hürzeler highlighted Yohanna's return as a positive step, noting that fellow winger Stefanos Tzimas is also making good progress in his recovery from an ACL injury. The manager did not provide an update on the fitness of another Nigerian winger, Femi Azeez.
The news comes as Brighton, third in the Premier League with 16 points from eight games, prepare for a key fixture against the league leaders. The sides played out a dramatic 2-2 draw just three days ago, a result that kept Brighton five points behind City in the table. Brighton's attack, which has scored 23 league goals this season, saw Georginio Rutter and Malick Yalcouyé on the scoresheet in that match, though the team's top scorer this season remains C. Kostoulas with three goals.
Brighton's next match is away to Manchester City on Saturday, 31 October. The squad's recent form shows two wins, two draws and one loss from their last five outings across all competitions. Those results include a 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on 25 October and a 5-0 home victory over Crystal Palace on 18 October. The team's defensive record remains strong, having conceded only seven goals in the league so far.
