Fatboy Slim has raised money for the Brighton & Hove Albion FC Foundation with two sold-out shows at the Quarters venue. The fundraising events took place in October, with all proceeds going directly to the club's official charity. The club's first team is currently performing strongly, sitting 3rd in the Premier League with 16 points from eight games, having recorded five wins, one draw and two defeats.
The musician, real name Norman Cook, is a longstanding ambassador for the foundation. "It’s a great way to help BHAFC Foundation and put a spotlight on the incredible work they do," Fatboy Slim said. His support has previously included quiz nights, matchday appearances and performances for the Albion Memories dementia support group.
The foundation supports many people every year across towns and cities in Sussex. Its work includes delivering free weekly football sessions for children, running literacy and numeracy programmes in primary schools, and providing disability football opportunities.
The fundraising comes as the first-team squad prepares for a key away fixture against Manchester City on Saturday 31 October. Their recent form shows a mix of results from the last several matches, with three wins, one draw and one loss in their last five outings. This sequence includes a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool last Sunday, but also a 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace and a 3-0 win against Arsenal. The team has scored 23 goals this season while conceding only seven. They travel to face the league leaders, Manchester City, who they trail by five points in the table. The club's top scorer this season is C. Kostoulas with three goals.
Tickets for the show at the seafront venue remained on sale with high demand, with the event marking a special occasion for the club.
