Brighton & Hove Albion travel to Anfield this Sunday to face Liverpool in a Premier League fixture that pits the division's third-placed side against its fifth. Fabian Hürzeler's team, unbeaten in five matches across all competitions, will look to exploit a Liverpool defence that has conceded in each of its last three home games.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has overseen a mixed start at home, with two wins, two draws and one defeat from his five league matches at Anfield. His side sits on 12 points, four behind Brighton's total of 16 from seven games. The Seagulls' current standing is built on a run of four consecutive Premier League victories, during which they scored 15 goals and kept four clean sheets.
Liverpool's defensive issues
Liverpool have let in 10 goals across their last four matches in all competitions. They will be without the long-term injured Giovanni Leoni and Hugo Ekitike for Sunday's match, while there are also serious doubts over the fitness of Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz. In contrast, Brighton's attack has been prolific, with Charalampos Kostoulas contributing three goals and two assists this season. Wide attackers Diego Gomez and Maxim De Cuyper are also expected to be key figures.
Brighton's impressive run
Brighton's form has been formidable. Their last five results read four wins and a draw, including a 5-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace and a 3-0 victory over Arsenal. Alexander Isak has scored five times in six league appearances for the club. The team's underlying numbers are strong, with 23 goals scored and only five conceded in the Premier League this season, giving them a goal difference of plus 18. They are currently five points behind leaders Manchester City.
Hürzeler has faced Iraola on four previous occasions, recording two wins, one draw and one defeat. Brighton have also beaten Liverpool twice in their last three top-flight meetings, though both of those wins came at the Amex Stadium. The most recent encounter, in March, ended in a 2-1 home victory for Brighton.
The match is the eighth round of the Premier League season. After this trip to Merseyside, Brighton's next league fixture is at home to Nottingham Forest on November 1.
Sunday's kick-off at Anfield is set for 2pm.
