Brighton & Hove Albion are working on a deal to sign midfielder Lia Walti from Juventus. The 33-year-old has undertaken a medical and although the deal is not yet finalised, negotiations between the clubs continue to progress positively.

What happened?

Lia Walti is set to return to the Women’s Super League after playing for Juventus. She won the Supercoppa Italiana and the maiden Serie A Women’s Cup under head coach Massimiliano Canzi.

Why it matters for Brighton & Hove Albion

The move would represent another statement of intent from Brighton as they look to establish themselves among the WSL’s leading clubs. Currently sidelined: K. Mitoma, S. Tzimas, A. Webster, M. Wieffer.

What comes next?

Walti would become Brighton’s first signing of the summer. She would bring significant experience and leadership to Dario Vidosic’s side. The Switzerland captain has over 120 international caps and is a natural leader on and off the pitch.
