Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of highly-rated winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK in a deal worth up to €30 million. The 18-year-old Nigerian has signed a long-term contract with the Seagulls until 2031. Yohanna had been a target for Newcastle United, who had submitted an offer to AIK, but the Magpies were ultimately unsuccessful in their pursuit of the teenager. Brighton's reputation for developing elite global talent and providing clear progression pathways ultimately proved decisive in convincing Yohanna and his representatives to favour a move to the South Coast. Yohanna has enjoyed a meteoric rise in Scandinavia since graduating from the Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria. After making his senior breakthrough with AIK, the teenager took the Swedish Allsvenskan by storm at the start of the 2026 campaign, recording two goals and two assists in his first seven league appearances, along with three goals in four Svenska Cupen matches. His combination of physical power, acceleration, and direct dribbling ability quickly sparked a Premier League bidding war involving Chelsea, Brighton, and Newcastle. Missing out on Yohanna is a blow for Newcastle's recruitment team, and the Magpies must now quickly turn to alternative targets as Eddie Howe remains determined to add a dynamic wide player to his squad.
