Ipswich Town is making a significant move in the transfer window by nearing an agreement to sign Paraguayan midfielder Julio Enciso from Strasbourg. The deal, which remains subject to final details and a successful medical examination, would make Enciso the club’s eleventh new signing of the summer.
Enciso, 22, joined Strasbourg on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in September 2025, scoring 12 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions last season. His time with Strasbourg was preceded by a six-month stint at Ipswich Town during the second half of the 2024-25 season, where he played under then-manager Kieran McKenna when the club was relegated to League One.
Prior to his loan move to Ipswich, Enciso had represented Paraguay in this summer’s World Cup. Under McKenna's guidance at Ipswich, the team managed a remarkable promotion back to the Premier League by finishing second in the Championship last season. However, McKenna stepped down after the promotion and was replaced by Gary O’Neil, who previously coached Strasbourg.
If the deal is finalized, Enciso will join a squad that already includes new signings such as Fulham’s Issa Diop and Sasa Lukic, Toulouse forward Emersonn, and former Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu. This move could bolster Ipswich Town's midfield depth and provide an experienced player to help with their transition back to the top flight.
The club is expected to announce the signing formally in the coming days once all formalities are completed.
