Brighton & Hove Albion defender Chema Andrés has named Harry Kane as his choice to win the Ballon d’Or. The new signing, who joined from VfB Stuttgart this summer, made the comments while discussing the award with El Chiringuito TV.
Andrés said his opinion is shaped by direct experience. "I've had to suffer playing against him in Germany," he stated. "I think he's had an incredible season."
He was asked directly who should receive the prestigious individual honour, which will be handed out in October. "I would give the Ballon d'Or to Harry Kane," Andrés confirmed. The Bayern Munich forward is considered a leading candidate alongside other elite players like Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé.
Andrés arrives at a Brighton side sitting third in the Premier League with 10 points from five games. He scored his first goal for the club in their recent 3-0 win over Arsenal, a result that extended their winning run to three matches. The Seagulls' next challenge is an away trip to face Sunderland on 10 October.
